Micro-Rhythms, Connection, & Starter Steps
for West Coast Swing
Workshop, Practice, and Class Night Out
on Saturday, May 13, 2023
1:00-4:30pm
Norwalk, CT
Understanding where movement comes from and how it influences your partner is essential to being a good leader or follower. This workshop is developed using three aspects to create a great dance: micro-rhythms, connection, and starter steps. This is a foundational aspect of West Coast Swing which can help any dancer improve.

The following policy is subject to change at any time in the event of new guidance issued by the CDC, state, or local governments. Health Cooperation: Students will cooperate with any health requests from Erik Novoa, guest instructor, or staff (e.g., using hand sanitizer, using a mask, stepping outside to address a health issue, etc.).
-
Registration: You must pre-register for these classes (see below). We will not be touching credit cards or cash for these classes.
Schedule:
1:00-4:00pm - Micro-Rhythms, Connection, and Starter Steps (Beginner and up)
This workshop intensive will be segmented into three parts (with short breaks in between each part):
Micro-Rhythms: This will explore how we use subtle movement to create a bond with our partner. That bond helps leaders and followers attach themselves in a way that seems "telepathic," which then creates the social solidarity necessary for good connection.
Connection: This section will expand on the idea of micro-rhythms to the development of lead-follow connection and application of movement.
Starter Steps: This will utilize the knowledge of micro-rhythms and connection to create various starter steps.
4:00-4:30pm - Practice Time
Practice what you learned.
5:00pm - Class Night Out
All attendees are invited to join us for dinner at a local restaurant (and maybe going to a local dance). This is a separate cost.
